Conviction vs. Condemnation

Discerning Conviction

 Holy Spirit
Satan
The Holy Spirit gives a sense of holiness.
Satan gives a sense of worthlessness.
The Holy Spirit gives a sense of God-consciousness (through the Word).
Satan gives a sense of self-consciousness (feelings).
The Holy Spirit deals with one thing at a time (quiet and gentle).
Satan “throws the whole book!”
Clamoring.
The Holy Spirit is specific - clarity
Satan deals in confusion - generalities.
The Holy Spirit “corrects”.
Satan accuses.
The Holy Spirit “convicts”.
Satan condemns.
The Holy Spirit deals with unconfessed sin.
Satan deals with confessed sin.
The Holy Spirit encourages to obedience.
Satan discourages to despair.
The Holy Spirit gives peace with a sense of “confirmation.”
Satan gives pressure and “frustration”.
These lead to a life of “balance”
These lead to a life of “bondage”.
The Holy Spirit speaks in sincerity.
Satan deals in “subtlety”.
