Letter 3: Double Standard

Review:
The last letter talked about mimicing the speech, or image management over real change.

Outline:
  • Man's relationship with his mother; work with Glubose to build mutual annoyance through:
    1. Focus inward, neglect the obvious.
    2. Since he must pray, have him pray for very "spiritual" things focus on her sins (things that irritate him) and make it less real. Parrot talk?
    3. Tones and looks of annoyance.
    4. The double standard of annoying habits
Questions/Discussions:
  1. Do we ever feel righteous about the annoying habits of another?
  2. Do we feel the need to defend ourselves?
  3. Footholds over the years. Who is the best at annoying you? Who causes you to stumble?
  4. The things that bother us are often things we do ourselves.
  5. Recall the eldest brother. Was this the prodigal son or Cain?
Scripture:
  • Matthew 7:1-5 This verse does not say not to take the speck out of your brother's eye, only to remove your log first.
  • Isaiah 59:1-4  The importance of being on praying ground.
  • Colossians 3:12-13 Bearing with each other
